Is my CDL school FMCSA approved?

Check before you sign or pay. Since February 7, 2022, entry-level driver training must come from a provider listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR). Search 40,157 registry training locations by school name, city, state code or ZIP to see whether a location is Active, has a Proposed Removal notice, or has been Removed.

Data source: FMCSA Training Provider Registry, retrieved October 22, 2026. Search index built October 23, 2026. The search runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent or stored. Status can change at any time, so confirm on the official Training Provider Registry before you enroll or pay.

What the registry statuses mean

Active
The training location appears in the registry's public provider search. To be listed, a provider certifies that it meets FMCSA's entry-level driver training requirements (49 CFR 380.703). Listing does not mean FMCSA endorses or rates the provider.
Proposed Removal
The location is on the registry's "Location - Proposed Removal" list. Under 49 CFR 380.723(b), when FMCSA issues a provider a notification of proposed removal, it notes this on the registry, and removes the notation if the notification is withdrawn. The provider must tell current driver-trainees and those scheduled for future training about the proposed removal. The provider has 30 days to respond, and generally 60 days to complete any corrective action (49 CFR 380.723(c)). The date shown is the registry's "Last Updated On" date.
Removed
The location is on the registry's "Location - Removed" list, shown with FMCSA's "Date of Removal" and "Type of Removal". If FMCSA removes a provider from the registry, any training conducted after the removal date will be considered invalid (49 CFR 380.721).
  • Voluntary Removal: the provider submitted written notification to FMCSA asking to be removed (49 CFR 380.723(a)).
  • Involuntary Removal: removal through FMCSA's notification of proposed removal process (49 CFR 380.723(b)–(c)).
  • Emergency Removal: FMCSA may remove a provider immediately, without the notification of proposed removal process (49 CFR 380.723(e)).
  • Other: the removal type FMCSA lists as "Other".
A removed provider may request an administrative review, and may later apply to be reinstated (49 CFR 380.723(d), (f)).

We show each status, date and removal type exactly as the registry lists them. We do not add reasons or characterize any provider's status. Every training location has its own registry entry, so check the exact location where you will train. A school that is not in the registry at all will not appear in this search.
